Industry Specific ComplianceThe Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) on March 24, 2026, notified the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (Consumer Protection) Regulations, 2025.

The following has been stated: -

•The regulations define core consumer rights such as safety, information, choice, grievance redressal, fair trade practices, and continuous quality supply of petroleum and gas services. 

•PNG, CNG, LPG, petrol, and diesel consumers are given specific rights like timely connections, accurate billing, quality supply, complaint mechanisms, and basic facilities at service points. 

•Consumers are entitled to transparent pricing, proper metering, receipts, and advance notice of service interruptions, along with compensation for service deficiencies. 

•A structured grievance redressal system allows complaints, escalation to higher authorities, the Ombudsman, and consumer forums.

•Consumers also have duties, including safe usage, timely payments, no tampering or theft, cooperation with service providers, and adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines.

These shall come into force on March 30, 2026.
